![]() ![]() IMO games that were created w Do ps1 games run better on ps3. Speaking as someone who bought this HD Collection on Day One and now no longer has it, just because you can play the games on the PS3 doesn't mean they're in any sense of the word "definitive.Do ps1 games run better on ps3. how are the HD Collection's versions of Silent Hill 2 and 3 "definitive versions"? The botched-to-hell colleciton changed textures (in many cases ruining the atmosphere and introducing illogical distances to locatons), screwed up the fog (a major aspect of the Silent Hill series), introduced new technological issues that were never present in the PS2/PC (and in Silent Hill 2's case, Xbox) versions, changed sound effects and music especially throughout Silent Hill 3, put a stupid TV border around one of the most important cutscenes of Silent Hill 2, changed some lines of the script of Silent Hill 3, changed the movement of one of the in-water boss fights of Silent Hill 3, introduced inconsistent letterboxing to both games' cutscenes, severely desaturated the color of both games, Silent Hill 3 has massive lip-sync issues.need I go on? It's actually a pretty good job, though as I pointed out the few issues, not the best, but I can easily recommend it to newbies as a huge Devil May Cry fan (hell, I own every Devil May Cry game on two consoles each right now.) I played Devil May Cry 1 and 3: Special Edition on the PS2 before, so I have a point of reference. I played the Devil May Cry HD Collection to completion (all three games.) The only issues were the menus and pre-rendered cutscenes: the gameplay and visuals and music were all perfectly fine. I've no experience with the PC version (yet), as I've not even begun SH3 yet. Again you may need to press F9 for the grain filter to be seen. Silent Hill 4 Runs fine on the pcsx2, but I find the brightness to be too high. The last line is monitor resolution width and high. The resolution field is the internal resolution, which you can set to 4096x4096, if you card can handle it, and it should be bigger than your monitor resolution. Mode should be fullscreen, as I've experienced crashes in other cases. ![]() You can replace that line if if's not like that in your file. Next navigate to \Silent Hill 3\savedata, and look for the following lines: format=D3DFMT_A8R8G8B8 NO NOT ENTER SETTINGS AGAIN, as the game may crash and you have to start over! Next install FlawlessWidescreen, so the image is not stretched. The game is compliant with controllers! Save your settings and exit the game. On first run, start a new game and edit the controller settings, and graphics settings. As for the pc version, I'd first advice running the game in compatibility mode Win xp after installation. The pcsx2 version seems to not work that well, as shadows, grain filter and flashlight looks weird for me. Silent Hill 3 I found the PC version to work the best, but has some issues as most old games. However, you will have to press F9 when FMV cutscenes begin, as they will look horrendous if you don't. This may just be me who misconfigured something. You may need Dx9, and press F9 to enable the high res and bypass the flashlight issue. Silent Hill 2 On pcsx2, as the fog looks a bit better. The PSN version is (from what I've heard) not even upscaled. Silent Hill Play on pcsxr for upscaled resolution. SAME FOR PCSXR, they are almost the same. If your pcsx2 is 1.2.1 or newer, it should already have the required widescreen fixes, by "Enable Cheats" and "Enable Widescreen Patches" for those to take effect. Resolution Run pcsx2, go to Config->Video(GS)->Plugin and put your desired resolution. You will need to find the BIOS for the emulators, as direct links are frowned upon to those. Both emulators can use the SCP driver package, so you can use a PS3 controller. I've put the needed links at the bottom for installation of controllers, wrappers and emulators. That opinion is based on getting the best atmosphere as possible (as I feel these game are best experienced this way). I've recently started this journey as well, and I researched a lot to find the best solution for each game IMO. That said and done, it would be easier with the original games on Steam with controller support, but that's unfortunately not the case, as I would gladly give 20-30$ for them. I made a comment on emulation the other day that might help you get started. ![]()
